Flag Football

The Varsity Flag Football boys had a very successful season. They showed continuous energy and effort throughout the season. “I was most impressed with our team’s ability to face adversity,” said Coach DeGennaro. When situations were tough, and the games were close, the boys would pick each other up and take on the next play. We split the boys into two or three teams depending on the school we were competing against. Our Blue team finished with a 6-0 record, while the Gold team ran off three consecutive wins to finish the season.

The future continues to shine brightly for our flag football program as the Sixth Grade Flag Football team finished their season with two impressive wins over St. Bernard’s.

Soccer

The Varsity Soccer team won its last league game 6-0 against Collegiate. This dominant performance was the perfect way to cap off our season. Led by a stellar offense and rock-solid defense, the varsity team ended the season with six wins, three losses, and a tie, finishing with a 3-3 league record. The team showed resilience by completing the season on a three-game winning streak. A phenomenal performance in goal saw the team concede only three goals in their last five games, scoring 15!

This year’s team showed tremendous work ethic, a respect for the game, their opponents, and the officials. There was a great sense of camaraderie and school spirit along with wonderful support from our parent group; it was a special season.

The JV Soccer team put together a successful season. They continuously worked on improving their dribbling, passing, trapping, and shooting skills. In addition to developing their offensive skills, the boys learned a variety of defensive formations. Their hard work paid off in an exciting final game versus Collegiate. In this match, the boys displayed effective dribbling and accurate passing, all of which led to them scoring four goals in an exciting 4-2 win.

Our Sixth Grade Soccer team is filled with a lot of talent and a determination to be successful. They finished the season with three consecutive wins over Buckley, St. David’s, and St. Bernard’s. “We have a strong group coming up next year, and I expect we will be very competitive in our league,” said Coach Brian Alifano.

Cross Country

A runner is introduced to himself during a hard run. This year our school’s league saw over 200 boys competing in the Cross Country meets. Grueling practices led to personal bests week after week, and our athletes were introduced to what hard work and persistence can bring. Three of our Varsity Cross Country runners medaled this year in the championship meet. Furthermore, each runner managed a personal best over the 1.5-mile Van Cortlandt Park course. The coaches could not be prouder of the work ethic and grind that each boy displayed during practice. Their ability to rise to the occasion week after week was truly inspirational.

With a crop of young talented runners coming up the ranks from Sixth Grade, the team looks to continue its success next fall.
