Alligator Soup

Alligator Soup, our after school program, is offered to boys in Grades K-8, and is a natural extension to a boy's day, giving him additional time to learn new skills and/or to deepen understanding about topics of interest. In Alligator Soup, boys will become engrossed in projects or activities in a familiar and nurturing environment surrounded by peers and caring teachers.

A few examples of classes that are part of the Alligator Soup program are:

  • Chess Club
  • Super Science

And many, many more!

Extended Day

The Extended Day program provides families with additional after-school care for boys in Grades K-8 in a familiar and nurturing environment. The program runs from 2:40-5:45PM, Monday to Friday. In Extended Day, boys are provided with a snack and have the opportunity to complete homework, read and interact with peers while playing a variety of board and card games.

Tradition

Dating back to the early twentieth century, Alligator Soup established a long-standing tradition of providing well-rounded enrichment for our boys. Then Athletic Director, Mr. Muller, was a pioneer in understanding the value of extracurricular enrichment activities.

Mr. Muller coordinated a variety of activities, including sports with boys from other New York City schools. With Allen-Stevenson's students sporting the letters "A-S" on their athletic shirts, boys from another school began calling A-S teams "Alligator Soup!"

Thus, a revered A-S institution was born.
