The art processes we teach are contemporary, integrating engineering with a strong sense of design, paired with a deliberate balance and respect for traditional methods. There is a strong emphasis placed on independent thinking and problem solving through play, inquiry, and experimentation.
We interweave cross-curricular themes and SEL to compliment the work that they are doing in their classrooms. Art classes across the grades introduce the boys to a multiplicity of media, methods, skills, concepts and processes that they will develop throughout their years at Allen-Stevenson.
The Allen-Stevenson Art Department puts emphasis on building student agency and resilience through collaborative skill-building and emotional literacy. As professional artists themselves, the teachers are well versed in the contemporary art scene and through this introduce a diverse community of artists to students.
