Fifth-grade Science

After visiting Billion Oyster Project’s (BOP) non-profit headquarters on Governors Island, fifth-grade students learned more about oysters; a keystone species in the well-being of New York City’s waterways.

BOP hopes to restore one billion live oysters to New York Harbor by 2035, and our boys are doing their part to support this significant community effort. 🦪

The boys measured living oysters, evaluated water quality, identified the ecosystem’s fauna and flora, and are now tasked with overseeing the data collection for A-S’s oyster cage housed alongside the East 90th Street Ferry Landing.
